If you haven’t caught Jian Ghomeshi’s CBC interview with Billy Bob Thorton and his band The Boxmasters you should definitely check this out. At first I thought Billy Bob was high but it looks like he’s just an ass.
UPDATE:
Billy Bob’s band was booed (say that 3 times fast) in Toronto this week. The Boxmasters are on tour with Willie Nelson as one of the opening acts but apparently canceled their performances in Montreal and London at the last minute. According to the Willie Nelson website his Canadian tour dates will go on without The Boxmasters.

The Acorn performed at Bluesfest in their hometown of Ottawa yesterday. The outdoor festival has always been a fantastic way to watch live music and this was definitely no exception!
The band played a beautiful blend of songs from their previous albums with a touch of new music as well. And despite the rumours I think they give great banter.
If you haven’t listened to The Acorn or if you just can’t get enough check out some of the tunes they recorded for Have You Heard. If you want to know more about the band Stereogum had a great interview with a few of them about their day jobs. For some fantastic black and white photos of the band from a gig in New York and a few wry comments from Jeff Debutte check out SarahSpy’s blog.
